34 confirmed cases as Alan Johnson speaks to MPs

As the latest 2 confirmed cases of Swine Flu are announced, Alan Johnson,Labour MP for West Hull and Hessle, has informed MPs that the Government has increased its stock of anti viral drugs to now cover 80% of Britons and that orders are in place for a vaccine when one becomes available.

Mr. Johnson explained that he wants to get people quicker access to antiviral drugs so treatment can begin within 48 hours of symptoms developing by relaxing the rules surrounding the distribution of the drugs.

Stephen O'Brien, shadow health minister and the Conservatives are supporting the government's containment strategy but have questioned the effectivness of isolating school children and/or staff with symptoms rather than closing the schools.
